This Collection of soulful well-crafted songs IS Mark’s “Story” told by the man who lived it.

This CD IS his, “Bio”.

“WORKIN” The new CD by Mark H. Lickteig

This collection of songs started when Mark’s Mother Barbara passed away. “I came home from Her funeral and wrote the song “I Can’t Say Goodbye” in about a half an hour and from there ALL of these songs came to me, like one dream after another”. They are the story of Mark’s life as a musician, a man, a lover, and a spirit with a deep soul put on earth to do one thing, make music and affect people with his emotions. Each one of these songs will “strike a chord” with someone, all of you have had similar experiences, and if not you will surely be inspired by the soulful honesty and integrity with which these very personal “stories” are presented.

Mark in the Star Tribune May 8, 2015

Mark Lickteig has been a mainstay on the Twin Cities club scene for more than three decades, singing rock and soul with the likes of Dr. Mambo’s Combo, the R Factor and Rupert’s Orchestra. Now Lickteig has released “Workin’,” a terrific album of originals. “I Can’t Say Goodbye” is classic sax-fueled R&B that sounds like it came out of Ben E. King’s songbook. Lickteig gets all gospelly and philosophical on “Home Is Where My Heart Is.” And he cuts loose on an explosive soul duet with Margaret Cox appropriately titled “Whoop Whoop.” Opening the CD release party is Ali Washington and the Movement, with Jaedyn James and the Hunger closing the evening.
